The popularity of our Sauvignon Blanc has increased considerably throughout the years. It has a following of wine drinkers who love a ‘sauvage’ Sauvignon Blanc. Still with elegance.
The generation 10 winemaker, Ben Portet, made the 2008 Sauvignon Blanc for his inaugural vintage at his family winery at Coldstream and now the 2009.
The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are from two Yarra Valley sites, in Coldstream and Wandin. These different locations add complexity, length and flavour to the wine. It also allows a variation in hand picking times, specific to each vineyard.
Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks and 15% of the wine fermented in new French oak barrels. Kept on lees and with “batonnage”, our Sauvignon Blanc has complexity and creaminess. The oak enhances its finesse and length.
The flavours are clear, crisp and a delightful passionfruit character, it’s a pure sauvignon blanc with aromas of lime blossom, white peaches and spring flowers. A lovely creamy texture, especially on the mid palate with just a touch of lemon and gooseberry.
Drink with a BBQ of seared ocean trout, prawns, oysters or as an aperitif with Mediterranean antipasto as the sun sets. Reminiscent to white wine of Bordeaux.
