Winemakers comments:
The year was good, and it produced beautiful
grapes that had fullness, structure and character without being
overblown. That’s the nature of the wine they produced.
This Shiraz has a deep colour, like black cherries with garnet lights,
and it has a wonderful nose – suggestions of plums, blackberries,
pepper, spices.
On the palate, it’s very rich and mouth-filling, with the flavours of
juicy plums, ripe blackberries, spices, and pepper predominating. There
are some savoury notes, too, some suggestions of the wild herbs that
grow in summer in Provence, of that sun-dried undergrowth. Those
characters give it greater complexity, and add a rustic note. It’s a
generous wine.
It has lots of fine close-textured tannins that give it structure.
We think it’s everything we want from a Shiraz.
Don’t hurry drinking it. This is a wine to savour, since it opens up in
the glass so well. Enjoy it with a range of dishes. Try it will roast
lamb, with tagines, even with French lentil salads.
It will cellar for at least five years.
